The General Union of Oil and Gas Workers warned against the entry of its members into an open sit-in, which could potentially lead to the closure of oil and gas sites and fields throughout the country.

The union called on the Government of National Unity (GNU) to increase the salaries of its members, also to activate medical insurance and exempt national employees from full income tax, offering deductions, as stipulated by the law, similar to their colleagues in several various sectors of the state, according to the union’s statement.

The union indicated that it will take all necessary measures and arrangements in the upcoming days to determine the date of the strike in order to announce it, then address the oil companies and inform them in order that the necessary technical measures are taken to preserve the oil equipment and oil transmission lines.
